The Department of Nutritional Sciences (NSCI) at Oklahoma State University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the area of Nutrition Security. This eleven-month, full-time, tenure-track faculty position (75% Cooperative Extension and 25% research appointment) has an anticipated start date of August, 2025.
Requirements
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop, implement, and evaluate Oklahoma Cooperative Extension Service (OCES) programs and community engaged approaches related to food, nutrition security, and diet related health outcomes;
Train and support OCES/FCS county educators and public health area specialists;
Collaborate with external stakeholders (e.g., state agencies, industry partners, and tribal partners) to enhance the nutrition, health, and well-being of individuals, families, and communities;
Conduct extramurally supported research that complements or extends existing departmental research and Extension foci;
Disseminate research findings through research publications, professional presentations, and other outreach media (e.g., Fact sheets, news releases, newsletters, podcasts, and social media);
Direct/supervise and advise/mentor M.S. and Ph.D. students;
Work collaboratively and effectively with interdisciplinary research teams to advance the Extension, research, and service/outreach mission of the department, college, and university;
Participate in professional activities and serve on appropriate committees in the department, college, university, and profession.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Earned doctorate in human nutrition, public health, or closely related field;
A record of, or demonstrated potential for, high-quality applied research dissemination of finding in professional outlets;
A record of, or demonstrated potential for, securing external funding;
A record of, or demonstrated potential for, interdisciplinary applied scholarship and implementation science;
A successful candidate must provide evidence of employment eligibility as required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Registered Dietitian Nutritionist credential;
A record of, or demonstrated potential, to conduct community engaged/participatory research aimed at understanding the intersections of diet, lifestyle, social determinants of health and nutrition security and metabolic disease outcomes;
A record of, or demonstrated potential, to teach adult populations using multiple modalities (e.g., experiential, online, in-person, hybrid);
Demonstrated commitment to professional and community service.

GENERAL INFORMATION:
The Department of Nutritional Sciences (NSCI): NSCI has approximately 23 full-time faculty members, 296 undergraduate students, and 59 graduate students (Ph.D. and M.S.) who are interested in promoting the health and wellness of individuals as well as communities through improving food and nutrition security and the prevention of diet-related disease.
Faculty in NSCI have active research programs and projects funded by diverse State and Federal entities, including NIH, USDA, and industry totaling over $4,000,000. NSCI faculty lead research programs with shared access to large, multi-user laboratories including an approximately 3,500 sq ft cellular and molecular laboratory, 2,100 sq ft clinical and metabolic laboratory, and 650 sq ft metabolic kitchen. As an undergraduate major in Nutritional Sciences, students can declare options in Allied Health, Human Nutrition/Pre- Medical Sciences, Dietetics, and Public Health Nutrition. Working with master’s degree and doctoral students, our graduate faculty are preparing the next generation of nutritional and implementation scientists. Our dietetic interns earn master’s degrees while completing their supervised practice.
