Job Title: WIC Nutrition Assistant I
Location: WIC Coastal, Oceanside and Encinitas - Mission Mesa Health Center
Training starts in San Marcos
Shift: M-F 7:30 am to 4:30 pm Once a month Saturdays - 8 am-12 Noon

Position Summary:
The Nutrition Assistant I is responsible for screening women, infants and children to determine eligibility for the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Supplemental Nutrition Program. The Nutrition Assistant I also serves as receptionist for the clinic, prints and issues food instruments and implements Truecare and WIC policies and procedures.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
- 1 year working with patients in a clinical office setting is required
- Ability to work with mothers to be and newborns, providing referrals, assisting through WIC processes and supporting breastfeeding and nutrition.
- Familiarity with WIC Program and maternal child health
