Description
The School of Family and Consumer Sciences invites applications for one full-time tenure-track faculty position (Assistant Professor) in Nutrition. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate nutrition courses; involving undergraduate and graduate students in research; obtaining external funding and publishing in peer-reviewed journals; and participating in appropriate service activities. Food science and related research will not be considered.
We seek candidates to support our undergraduate Nutrition and Food (Dietetics) and graduate MS in Human Nutrition programs. Collectively, this position includes teaching, scholarship, and professional service.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
-PhD in Nutrition or closely related field (e.g. Public Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics);
-At least 18 graduate hours of coursework in Nutrition;
-ABD (All but dissertation) candidates will not be considered;
-Experience teaching at an accredited college or university. Experience as a Teaching Assistant is acceptable;
-An active research program related to nutrition; specifically, the impact of dietary patterns on human health. Food science and product development research will not be considered.
-Experience publishing research or evidence of ability to publish nutrition research in quality journals Applicants must have full-length research article(s) published in peer-reviewed and PubMed/MEDLINE indexed journal(s).
Preferred Qualifications
-At least 1 year of postdoctoral research experience by full consideration date of application (Oct. 15th, 2024);
-Registered dietitian credential;
-Experience engaging with, creating, or managing large datasets;
-Experience with advanced statistical or epidemiological models for analyses;
-Experience conducting research with human participants, patients, or clients which may include primary or secondary data analyses;
-An active research program related to one of the following areas in Nutrition;
o Nutrition interventions, including planning, design, implementation, evaluation or analyses of randomized controlled trials, pragmatic trials, or implementation science trials;
o Nutrition epidemiology, including analyses of national panel surveys, national cohort studies, large randomized controlled trials, multi-level, complex or big data;
o Nutrition policy and programs, including federal food and nutrition assistance programs and capacity building initiative;
o Systems or computational biology or analyses of proteomic, metabolomic, transcriptomic, nutrigenomic, nutrigenetic, or microbiome data from diverse biological samples;
-Record of multiple peer-reviewed research articles related to nutrition published in quality journals indexed in PubMed/MEDLINE;
-Experience teaching courses as the instructor of record at the collegiate level;
-Experience teaching research design/methods, statistics/biostatistics, or epidemiology courses at the graduate level;
-Grant writing experience seeking external funding (e.g., writing, submitting, or securing funding through postdoctoral fellowships, research grants, or contracts);
-Experience mentoring undergraduate or graduate students in research;
-Teaching awards or professional research awards received at the graduate, postdoctoral, or faculty level.
-Other qualifications related to working in accredited dietetics programs.
